Ever since my son started pushing things to walk, I have learned that EVERYTHING can become a walker. Laundry baskets turned over, step stools, even cardboard boxes. The more adept at it that he gets, the more things he experiments with. Now, he's taking a few steps on his own. Still, his desire to walk is stronger than his ability, so he continues to push things around and practice the act of walking. I can tell how much he enjoys the independence afforded him by being able to use walkers. So, it has been amazing to discover something that allows him to walk anywhere easily, supported by something, and all on his own. The Y Bike Pewi.
I swear, I could sell this thing for a living. When he was first trying to walk, but not walking yet, we would take it to the mall and he'd walk up and down (we have a very expensive local mall that's frequently has very few people in it during the weekday). People would stop me and beg to know where I got it. Incidentally, my father purchased it at Neiman Marcus (which this mall has and I know for a fact people have left my side and gone directly there to purchase it). You can also get it on Amazon. It's amazing. It's so easy to use, easy to carry around (I was able to hang it off the end of our lightweight stroller) so you can take it anywhere, and very supportive of walking. It's not the best starter since it moves fast, but after a week or so of pushing around an upside down laundry basket, most kids would likely be ready to roll on the Y Bike. My son could actually run with it!
My little guy is walking now and has been for the past two months, but he still likes to push it around the house sometimes. Now, we're working on helping him learn to straddle it and ride it like a bike. A great next step!!
